Plant Care

Grows best at: 18?C ? 24?C

No need to thin the seedlings, just let them all thrive until harvest!
Please note that Red Lettuce is heat sensitive and best grown at 64 to 72 ?F (18 to 22?C). If the temperature is higher than 75?F (24?C) then germination is inhibited. Also, plants tend to bolt at high temperatures, which in turn may cause the flavour to become bitter.
Lettuce grows best if the lamp has just one arm! If the lamp is set too low it may burn your thriving plants. If the lamp is set too high your plants will grow leggy and produce less yield.
You may start harvesting in three to four weeks by picking off the larger outer leaves first, moving towards the heart of the plant.
We recommend harvesting the whole pod in one go, approximately five to six weeks after planting. Unfortunately, lettuce is one of those plants that does not get any better or provides more yield as it matures.
Red Lettuce is a source of antioxidants, especially thanks to anthocyanins that also add a fancy red pigmentation to the leaves. The intensity of red depends on the smart garden lamp and growing conditions and may vary greatly from plant to plant.
